What does the andrological visit consist of?
Autore: Prof. A. Natali
Topic: Reproductive sphere andrology
The andrological visit is a medical examination in which the specialist Andrologist in the first phase of the visit collects as much information as possible on the history and lifestyle of the patient (medical history), asking questions about nutrition, possible smoking habit, consumption of alcohol and drugs, level of physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle, any hereditary pathologies, work and sexual life trends. The specialist will then continue the visit with a sectoral objective examination examining carefully the shape, size and appearance of the testicles and penis, also helping with palpation. If the patient also has urological disorders of the lower urinary tract or is more than 50 years old, the examination also generally includes rectal exploration to assess the state of health of the prostate and to rule out the presence of anal venous diseases (such as hemorrhoids) .
