SURGICAL TREATMENT OF
ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

In the field of Erectile Dysfunction (ED) the application of penile revascularization procedures even in highly selected patients performed by well-trained experienced surgeons results in a variable and unpredictable outcome. These techniques were developed in the 1970s and 1980s, based on the principles of cardiac bypass. When there is an obstruction in a penile artery, may be tried to bypass it as it is done in a coronary artery. However these procedures do not work in penile as well as in cardiac hemodynamic. Such that today this type of procedures are reserved for selected ED’s cases only.
